When couples are comparing wedding DJs, the first question is usually, “How much do you charge?” That’s a fair question. Weddings are expensive, and I understand that every couple has a budget. Cost is the awkward silence when the microphone cuts out. Cost is your names being butchered during introductions. Cost is an empty dance floor because the DJ can’t read the room. Cost is your first dance song starting in the wrong spot, or the reception feeling clunky because nobody is really keeping things moving. That’s the stuff people remember. And unfortunately, those are the moments you don’t get to redo. A wedding DJ is not just someone who plays music. If that were the whole job, you could hand a cousin a Bluetooth speaker and hope for the best. Please don’t! You are hiring someone to help guide the night. Someone to make announcements, manage transitions, work with your other vendors, adjust when the timeline changes, and keep the energy in the room moving without making it feel forced. A good wedding DJ knows when to speak, when to stay quiet, when to hype the room, and when to get out of the way. That comes from experience. I’ve been doing this for over 30 years, which means I’ve handled packed dance floors, quiet crowds, timeline changes, last-minute song swaps, ceremony audio, emotional moments, wild requests, and the occasional guest who treats the DJ booth like a customer service desk. Guest lists with a couple dozen guests to a couple hundred and everything in between… I’ve been there, done that. I bring professional sound, lighting, planning, MC work, crowd reading, and a steady hand when something needs to shift. More than anything, I bring the experience to know that your wedding is not the Jerry Show. It’s your wedding. My job is to help make it feel smooth, fun, personal, and memorable for the right reasons. So when you see different wedding DJ prices, understand that not every number means the same thing. Some DJs charge more because they bring more experience, better preparation, better equipment, and a higher level of service. Others charge more because they have more overhead: wrapped vans, paid ads, wedding expos, preferred vendor placements, big listing sites, employees, and all the business expenses that come with that. And yes, preferred vendor placements can be a thing. Sometimes DJs pay other vendors to recommend them. Big listing sites like The Knot or WeddingWire can also cost thousands of dollars a year to appear near the top of search pages. Some of us know we could charge top dollar, but try to be fair. None of that is automatically bad. But it also doesn’t automatically mean your reception will be better. Sometimes you’re paying for the party. Sometimes you’re paying for the van sitting outside. This is honestly the hardest part of the business for me. I know the value I bring to a wedding reception. I have the experience, the professionalism, the preparation, and the reviews to back up my reputation. But when I try to keep my pricing fair, it can create a strange problem. Instead of people seeing it as, “This DJ gives you more than you pay for,” some assume, “He must not be as good because he doesn’t charge as much.” Which is wild, because if I doubled my price tomorrow, I wouldn’t magically become twice the DJ. I’d just be the same DJ with a bolder invoice. My goal has never been to be the most expensive name on your vendor list. My goal is to give you the kind of wedding reception that makes you feel like every dollar was well spent. A cheap DJ is only cheap until it costs you a moment you can’t get back. That might sound dramatic, but weddings are full of moments that only happen once. Your ceremony audio. Your introductions. Your first dance. Your parent dances. Your speeches. Your packed dance floor. Your last song of the night. Those moments deserve more than someone “winging it.” They deserve someone who is prepared, experienced, professional, and fully invested in making your wedding day feel the way it should. I’m not trying to be the cheapest wedding DJ. I’m also not trying to charge more just so people assume I’m better. My goal is to be fair, professional, and worth every penny. Because at the end of the night, I don’t want you thinking, “Well, at least we saved a few bucks.” I want you thinking, “That was exactly what we hoped our wedding would feel like.” Next, here’s the actual wedding DJ pricing breakdown.Wedding DJ Pricing: Cost vs. Price
But I think the better question is, “What could it cost us if we hire the wrong person?”Price is the number on the invoice.

Wedding DJ Package
Once you get past the “what does it cost?” conversation, the next question is simple:
What do you actually get?
My standard wedding DJ package is designed to cover the full reception experience without turning every little thing into an add-on.
No mystery fees for microphones. No extra charge because you want introductions. No “MC service” hidden behind another package tier.
Just the things most couples actually need.
What’s Included
Planning
Before the wedding, we’ll go through the details together so I understand the timeline, the music, the key moments, and the overall feel you want for the night. That way, when the day comes, I can step into the role of Master of Ceremonies and help take charge of the flow.
This includes:
- One-on-one planning session
- Reception timeline review
- Grand entrance planning
- First dance and parent dance planning
- Must-play and do-not-play music guidance
- Dinner, cocktail, and dance floor music planning
- Coordination with your venue and other vendors when needed
Basically, I want to know the plan before the wedding day so you’re not trying to explain it to me while wearing formalwear and holding a champagne glass.
Reception DJ and MC Services
Your package includes up to 6 hours of DJ and MC service for your reception.
This includes:
- Reception music
- Grand entrance announcements
- Dinner announcements
- Toast and speech introductions
- Special dance introductions
- Dance floor music
- Guest requests
- Clean and edited versions when appropriate
- Wireless microphones for speeches and announcements
I’ll keep the night moving, make the announcements that need to be made, and avoid the ones that don’t.
Nobody needs a DJ narrating the evening like a nature documentary, cutting off songs every 30 seconds to prove he can mix, or interrupting the flow just to hear the sound of his own voice between random sound effects.
Sound, Lighting, and Setup
The package also includes the equipment needed to make the night look and sound professional.
This includes:
- Professional sound system
- Wireless microphones
- Dance floor lighting
- Clean, organized DJ setup
- Setup and teardown
- Backup equipment
The goal is simple: it should sound good, look clean, and work the way it’s supposed to.
Radical concept, I know.
Ceremony Sound
Ceremony sound is included when your ceremony and reception are at the same location.
This can include:
- Microphone for the officiant
- Music for guest arrival
- Processional music
- Recessional music
- Microphones for readings or special moments
There is no extra ceremony fee. It simply starts my service time earlier.
If the ceremony is in a location without power, I can provide a generator setup for a small additional fee.
Travel
Travel is included for weddings within one hour of Bath, NY. Travel time is calculated by Google Maps.
For weddings beyond that distance, a travel fee of $100 per hour will apply. If travel time exceeds 2 hours, additional requirements, such as hotel accommodations, will be discussed.

Ready to Talk?
If you’re looking for a wedding DJ who brings experience, professionalism, and just enough personality to keep things fun without making the night about himself, let’s talk.
You have a vision for your wedding. I’m just here to help make it come to life.
Event DJ Package
Not every event needs a full wedding-level production, but every event still deserves a DJ who knows how to read the room, keep the energy moving, and make sure the music fits the crowd.
Whether it’s a birthday party, corporate event, school dance, fundraiser, graduation party, anniversary party, or just a really good excuse to get people together, I’ve got you covered.
This package is designed for events that need professional music and sound without all the extra wedding-specific planning, formalities, and reception flow.
What’s Included
The standard event DJ package includes up to 4 hours of music.
This includes:
- Up to 4 hours of music
- Professional sound system
- Clean and edited music when appropriate
- Access to a large music library with over 65,000 songs
- Guest requests when appropriate for the event
- Music matched to the crowd, age group, and overall vibe
- Clean, organized DJ setup
- Setup and teardown
- Optional dance floor lighting at no additional charge
Setup and teardown are on my time, not yours. If you book 4 hours of music, you get 4 hours of music. You are not paying me to untangle cords while your guests stare at me.
What This Package Is Best For
This package is a great fit for events that need music, energy, and a professional DJ presence, but do not require the full structure of a wedding reception.
Common event types include:
- Birthday parties
- Graduation parties
- Corporate events
- School dances
- Fundraisers
- Community events
- Anniversary parties
- Holiday parties
- Private parties
If your event needs full formal planning, ceremony sound, detailed introductions, speeches, special dances, and timeline coordination, that starts moving into wedding package territory.
If your event mostly needs music, announcements, and someone who knows how to keep the room alive, this is probably the package you’re looking for.
The “Why Can’t You Just Do One Hour?” Clause
I completely understand that some events only need music for a short amount of time.
The challenge is that once I reserve your date, that spot is off my calendar. I usually cannot book another event around it, especially when you factor in travel, setup, teardown, loading, unloading, and the mysterious law of nature that says every extension cord will tangle itself the second you look away.
That is why the base event rate covers up to 4 hours, even if you only need me for less time.
